MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. ? A church deacon in New Jersey has been accused of sexually assaulting a child during religious services.

Joseph V. Pullen Jr., 59, of Pemberton Township, allegedly assaulted a girl during a service at Calvary Baptist Church on Sunday, said the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.

Pullen and the victim were alone together at the time of the alleged assault at the Pemberton Township church, the prosecutor's office said.

A representative of the church could not be reached for comment on Friday.

Authorities released no information about the alleged victim.

However, they alleged Pullen also assaulted her at another location in November 2011.

Pullen was charged in connection with each incident.

He faces allegations of aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arrested Friday morning at the Pemberton Township Police Department.

Pullen was being held on $250,000 bail.
